A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA,
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has stressed the need for lawyers to go into partnership, saying the relationship promotes personal and professional development.
Akeredolu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial flag bearer in the 2012 governorship election in Ondo State, stated this in Ibadan on Tuesday while inaugurating the
chambers of Adebayo and Gbadamosi Law Firm.
According to him, the professional union between Ojo Adebayo
and Kazeem Gbadamosi, who were lawyers in his chambers some years back, had
given benefits to the business and the legal profession in general.
He recalled the journey of his partnership with a former
Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Akin Olujinmi
(SAN), saying that fusing their individual
sub-legal disciplines of commercial law and advocacy-litigation together has helped the
legal practise in Nigeria. He urged lawyers to explore same to their benefit.
The senior lawyer remarked that Adebayo and Gbadamosi have been able to succeed as partners because they never failed to embark on sincere appraisal of themselves and their business.
According to him, they both never suffered fools gladly and
generously critiqued each other, even in their partnership.
Also speaking at the occasion, Nathaniel Oke (SAN) noted that
the pursuit of the two partners' vision and focus gave birth
to the edifice being commissioned.
Many of the guests, who spoke at the occasion, also took turn to relate how the partners were always critical of each other, while not abandoning their vision.
Present at the occasion were Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), O.
J. Erhabor, First Vice President, NBA, Mr Wole Aina, Vice Chairman, Ibadan NBA,
Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan, Dr. Alex Anozie, Justice F. A. Olubanjo, Justice B. O.
Quadri, Justice Bayo Taiwo, Alhaji Wasiu Abubaqri and Hon. Babatunde Oduyoye,
among others.
