A pregnant woman, Kafayat Afonja, was on Monday fell by
stray bullet allegedly fired by policemen trying to control human surge at a human abattoir
discovered in Ibadan last Saturday.
The middle-age woman, who was said to be a trader at Ogunpa
market, Ibadan, was reportedly hit by the stray bullet on the left breast and
died on the spot.
Also a lifeless body of another woman was dumped in front of
a commercial bank (Skye Bank) along Basorun MKO Abiola way (formerly Ring Road),
Ibadan on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Oyo state governor Abiola Ajimobi paid a visit to the
scene on Monday where he announced the revocation of certificate of occupancy
for the abandoned site.
Ajimobi, who said he was at the site to commiserate with the
families of dead victims of the horror site also pleaded with members of the
public to furnish the government with useful information to help in tracking
down the culprits and make them face the law.
“As from today, we have to be vigilant to prevent this kind
of evil occurrence. We are here to sympathise with the families of those dead
victims, to know the root of this incident and to bring all culprits to book.
"Try to give information if you have any to get all the
culprits. If you are afraid of the police, the doors of my office are open. All
prayers and curses you know, cast them on the culprits so that we can get them.
God will use us to punish them," he told the crowd at the scene.
Meanwhile, some of the rescued victims told their shocking stories
at the Adeoyo General Hospital, Yemetu, Ibadan, where they recuperate, on Monday.
The rescued victims include Nofiu Shittu from Ibadan,
Michael Ola from Odeda in Ogun State, and Wale Atoyebi from Ada, Osun state, as
well as a woman who claimed to have come from Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo family,
Mrs. Titi Adeniyi-nee Dokpesi.
They said they were, at different occasions, picked up or
forced inside a vehicle while later found themselves in the kidnappers den.
