One of the governorship aspirants in Oyo State, Seyi
Makinde, was a guest at the Ibadan office of the State Security Services, SSS,
on Monday.
While sources told WITNESS NIGERIA that Makinde, a trained engineer,
was at the government’s secret police's office on invitation, his aides
said the visit was part of his comprehensive schedule to be in contact with all
stakeholders as he pursues his ambition to govern the state from 2015.
Makinde is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he is likely to seek the ticket to contest governorship election in the state in 2015.
He was reportedly accompanied to the premises of the SSS at
Aleshinloye area of the state capital around 4 pm by some of his aides, including Seye Famojuro.
While reacting to our reporter’s query on Thursday, Akeem
Azeez, media aide to Makinde, confirmed his principal’s visit to the place, but
said it was based on an earlier request he had made to the security outfit.
“Our visit was not for any other matter than to pay courtesy
just like we've been going to people in strategic places. We are law abiding
citizens and we couldn't have harboured criminals," he said.
