Night guard’s corpse found at liquor spot in Ondo

The lifeless body of a middle-aged man believed to be a night guard was discovered on Sunday at a drinking joint at Oke-Odunwo Street of Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government area, Ondo state.
Though, the cause of the death remained yet unknown, the deceased was said to be at the joint with his close friend before his lifeless body was later discovered half-naked in a corner at the joint.
Residents around the neighbourhood were attracted to the scene when the owner of the joint and other customers raised alarm about the incident.
It was also learnt that shortly after this, a detachment of policemen from Enuowa divisional police station in Ondo town, was dispatched to the spot to prevent breakdown of law and order as the crowd kept increasing.
Meanwhile, the news of the death of the deceased has continued to generate controversy as his colleagues and residents of the community wondered what could be the possible cause.
People believed to be his relatives suspected foul play and were already reacting angrily.
Their suspicion was reinforced by the fact that the lifeless body of the man said to be about 40 years old was found half naked within the premises of the liquor joint.
A reliable senior police officer at the station, who may not want his name mentioned, confirmed the report of the matter and added that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the Ondo State Specialist Hospital in Ondo town.
He further added that three suspects, including the owner of the relaxation joint, arrested in connection with the matter, are currently at the homicide section at the Ondo State police command headquarters in Akure, for further interrogation.
