Osun Sets up Committee on Commission Of Inquiry on Disturbance of Public Peace

The Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has approved the setting up of a Commission of Inquiry of Public Peace in the State. The Commission which was set up by the Governor under Section 2(1) of the Commission of Inquiry Law, Cap 29 Laws of Osun State 2002 will cause inquiry to be made for the purpose of public welfare into acts and/or attempted acts of disturbance of public peace anywhere in the State and/or acts and/or attempted acts capable of disturbing public peace anywhere in the State including but not limited to acts of disturbance of public peace that occurred in the State at Ideal Nest Hotel, Osogbo, State of Osun on 2nd April, 2014 and such other places.
Consequently, Governor Aregbesola has appointed the following persons as the Chairman and members of the Commission:
 1. Hon Justice Kunle Adeigbe
 2. Mrs. Bose Dawodu
 3. Barrister Ismail Ajibade
Mr. Bisi Babalola (Director, Legal Reforms) will serve as the Secretary to the Commission.
By the instrument setting up the Commission, the Commission which will be a standing one shall have the power to call for and receive petitions, submissions and complaints from any person, whether victim or otherwise, of violence, acts of terrorism, hooliganism, civil disturbance etc. and, with all convenient speed inquire into the cause of such incidents in the State.
Chairman and any other member of the Commission shall form the quorum of the Commission and the Commission is to commence hearing on Thursday, 14th May, 2014.
