A middle-aged woman, Ms. Florence Okhuelegbe, died in
Aduwawa community of Ikpoba-Okha local government of Edo state on Tuesday after
been accidentally hit by a broken bottle thrown during a free-for-all.
Sources said the deceased was hanging her washed cloths in
front of her house when the broken bottle sudden flew to her direction,
inflicted deep cut in her arm before she later bled to death.
It was gathered that some street urchins in the
neighbourhood had engaged the driver of an articulated truck in heated argument
after accusing him of parking his cement-laden truck wrongly.
An attempt to forcefully extort money from him led to a
fight as one of them broke a bottle and threw it at the driver.
However, the broken bottle missed the target and hit the
woman where she was hanging her cloth.
She was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.
While confirming the incident, Edo state Police Command spokesman,
DSP Moses Eguavoen, said some arrest had already been made in connection with
it.
He added that the command has commenced investigation.
