Four students of the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi in
Ovia South West Local Government, Edo state, lost their lives on Friday in an
auto crash along Benin-Sapele-Warri Expressway.
The accident involved a 15-seater passenger bus heading
towards Warri.
Three of the victims died on the spot while one other died
at Benin Central Hospital where the injured were rushed to for treatment.
One of the survivors, who gave his name as Collins, said the
students were going to Delta State to attend the funeral ceremony of a grandmother
of their colleague.
He explained that the bus lost control when one of its tyres
burst, and somersaulted into the bush.
The Benin Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps
(FRSC), Mr. Luka Ikpi, confirmed the incident, but attributed it to excessive speeding.
