Oyo commissioner suggests solution to rising youth unemployment

The Oyo state Commissioner for Applied Science and Technology, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has identified promotion of small scale businesses as a viable way of stemming the rising youth unemployment in the country.
The youthful commissioner, who disclosed this during his recent visit to the Technology Incubation Centre in Ibadan, the state capital, also encouraged young graduates not be afraid of starting from the scratch in their quest to cross the boundary of unemployment.
Lam-Adesina, who said that the present administration in the state is paying serious attention to job creation as far as small scale industry is concerned, assured of strengthening relationship between his ministry and the centre.
He, however, challenged the manager of the centre to be more proactive in order to encourage the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to pay more attention to the state.
The commissioner also said that the Graduate Loan/Small Scale Schemes of the Ministry was introduced to the entrepreneurs, encouraging them to get further information from the ministry’s website.
He was later conducted round the incubation centre where entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves showcased some of the locally fabricated equipment, technology innovations and other MSME products.
On the commissioner's entourage were the Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Industry, Adebukola Adebusuyi, the permanent secretary, directors and other officers of the ministry.
