The FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has approved the immediate promotion of 2,201 staff of the FCT Administration.
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by Mr Muhammad Sule, the Press Secretary to the minister.
The statement said the promotion became necessary as part of the initiatives to motivate the staff and increase their productivity for better service delivery.
It added that out of the number, 1,892 were senior staff while the remaining 309 were junior staff.
``This gesture of the government will spur the staff to greater heights and by extension, increase service delivery to the FCT residents,’’ it said.
The statement advised the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by improving their productivity to the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some workers of the FCTA staged a peaceful protest in December 2013 over the delay of workers’ promotion, among other issues.
