Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has been
announced winner of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary in the
state.
Adamu Ailero, who headed the team from the national headquarter of the party to conduct the primary, announced the results in Osogbo at the end of the exercise on Saturday.
According to him, Omisore, a former senator, pooled 1,128 votes to emerge
winner.
Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, who came second in the
exercise, had 45 voted; while Wole oke, another candidate, scored five votes.
Former governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke, had announced
his withdrawal from the race Friday evening, citing ‘desperation and
determination of an aspirant to maim and kill to secure ticket at all cost’.
Though he did not mention name, his comment was believed to
be directed at Omisore, whom he had accused of desperation during the week.
By the election, Omisore will fly the flag of the PDP in the
state’s governorship election scheduled for August 9.
