Mimiko campaigns for Jonathan in Ibadan, seeks support for his government

The Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has urged people of the South West of Nigeria to lend their support to President Goodluck Jonathan and his government.
Mimiko, who was in Ibadan on Wednesday to commission the Oyo state secretariat of Labour Party, admonished members of the party and its supporters to desist from joining in speaking against the president, his administration and policies.
In a veiled campaign for Jonathan’s re-election as president in 2015, the governor said, “Don't fight the Federal Government or President Goodluck Jonathan. Do not begrudge the Federal Government. I believe you understand what I mean”.
He also condemned the policies of his All Progressive Congress, APC, brother governors in the Southwest, saying Labour Party is the only true progressive party in the country.
"In our university in Ondo state, tuition fees is N25,000. If there is any university in Nigeria with a tuition as low as that, let me know. Some states say they are progressive government yet tuition fees in their university is N250,000. If a public university charges N250,000, one wonders how much private universities will charge", he said.
He advised residents and eligible voters in the South West states including Oyo to embrace Labour party for their own good.
The governor had earlier visited the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana, to felicitate with him on his 100 years birthday holding in the ancient city next week.
In his own speech, the Labour Party National Chairman, Dan Nwuayanwu, boasted that the party would win more states in the 2015 election.
"We are the only progressive party in Nigeria and we have room for everybody. Those of you from the other parties, who are new, have been granted waiver. You can now go ahead and register in your wards in preparation for 2015 elections. We don't want anybody to fight or quarrel over positions. We are not here for campaign but just to inaugurate our party office here in Ibadan. The Agodi Government House is looking at you. You only need to wait, work, and when it is time, you enter it", he said.
