The corpse of a 45-year-old
man, Abayomi Olarenwaju, believed to have committed suicide, was found behind
the New Stadium, Akure, Ondo state early Monday.
The middle-aged man reportedly hanged himself on a tree,
using a vehicle fan belt.
The man’s death still remains mysterious as he was said not
to have left a note behind to explain the cause.
However, Olanrewaju was said to have tested positive to the
dreaded Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which has led to his wife and
children leaving the house for him for fear of being infected.
While confirming the incident, the state Police Public
Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mr. Wole Ogodo, hinted that the remains of the
deceased have been released to his family.
He added that the command got information from neighbours around
the stadium and quickly swung into action.
Ogodo added that relevant government agencies were also
involved particularly to ensure that the environment was properly fumigated
to avoid the spread of the desease.
