Dangote truck driver killed in lone accident

By OLALEKAN BADMOS
An unidentified driver of a Dangote Group truck lost his life in a lone accident at the Ovia River, near Benin, Edo state, on Sunday.
According to Charlse Akpabio, Benin Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the deceased was driving a cement-laden truck marked YKS 137 XA when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the river.
He told journalists that only the driver died, while other two occupants sustained minor injuries.
It was gathered that the vehicle was coming from Lagos, and heading towards Benin when the tragedy occurred.
Akpabio added that the FRSC officials on patrol evacuated the driver’s corpse trapped under the trailer as well as the two passengers.
"The Corps has repeatedly urged transport companies to ensure that their vehicles are in perfect working condition. We also, on daily basis, advise drivers to rest when they become fatigue and also avoid intoxicant while on the wheel," Akpabio said.
