Our equipment inadequate, Ondo CP tells AIG

 
The Ondo state Commissioner of Police, Patrick Dokumor , has identify inadequate equipment as a major problem facing the command.
 
The police office, who stated this while hosting the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone XI, David Omojola, on Wednesday, said the challenge is have negative effective on their effort to combat crime and ensure a safe environment in the state.
He listed some of the items needed for effective policing in the state to iclude arms and ammunitions, riot control equipment, barracks and patrol vehicle.
Omojola had earlier, in his address to the officers and men of the command, directed them to be careful with politicians in the state, saying they (politicians) may want to use them for sinister motives as the general elections period approaches in the country.
The police zonal head was on a familiarization tour to the state where he directed that all volatile areas within the command must be identified and properly secured in preparation for the elections.
He hinted that the police authorities have restructured the salary of police officers across the nation in order to reduce rate of corruption among his men saying the present police authorities have zero tolerance for corrupt officers.
The AIG also commended the state Command for its effort in combating crimes, saying the police authorities have put in place measures to improve the welfare of his men.
He said the police has established mortgage loan facilities for all his officers and men in order to provide a good shelter for them and their family and urged them to make judicious use of the loan.
He said about 1,500 housing units have been completed in Lagos, 80 in Abuja, 360 in Kubwa and Gwalgalada with a pledge to build upon the health scheme being established by the police authorities.
