A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in
Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, launched his campaign team in Ibadan on Saturday with
the promise to run an all-inclusive and responsive government if elected in 2015.
“The responsibility of everybody aspiring to lead is to give
the followers a sense of belonging through the deliverance of quality and
exemplary leadership which we have set out for,” he said while inaugurating the
campaign committee at the Kakanfo Inn in the state capital.
Tagged ‘Omititun Campaign Committee’, the team drew membership
from all the 33 local government areas of the state.
While explaining his mission in politics, the United States certified
engineer, said though due to the bad conduct of many Nigerian politicians, the
electorate are already losing hope on the system and its administrators, he
said he has resolved to depart from the usual norm as he seeks to govern the
state.
He added that the people of the state deserve much more in
leadership quality, saying his government will make life better for the people
if elected in the coming 2015 election.
"By the special grace of God, we won't disappoint the
people.
"It is obvious that we have obstacles but I want to
assure you all that God is on our side and we are going to win every
confrontation," he said.
Makinde tasked the newly inaugurated committee members to
see the call as a collective responsibility which they must deliver through
determination and attract others to the fold.
In his address, Dejo Afolabi, a former PDP Chairman in the
state, said that the party would reclaim Oyo state in 2015, adding that the
party's victory has been endorsed by God.
Apart from a huge number of group coordinators from across
the state, notable members of the party also graced the occasion.
