Community confers title on Oshiomhole

BY OLALEKAN BADMOS
The people of Urhonigbe in Orhiomwon Local Government Area of Edo State have conferred a chieftaincy title of Okakuo of Urhonigbe (warlord of Urhonigbe) on the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, in recognition of his administration’s focus on the development of the area.
The paramount ruler (Okaevbo) of Urhonigbe, Chief Igie Aimuyo, who announced the conferment on Tuesday when the governor was on a ‘Thank You’ visit there, said the title was to show appreciation for all his good work in Urhonigbe and the effort to transform the community and restore its lost glory.
"You renovated and equipped our secondary school, turning it to a University standard; you did same in Idunmwogo Primary School; you did not only elevate our Cottage Hospital to almost an international status, but you also gave us an ambulance," the monarch, who spoke through Dr. Wilson Ogieva, said.
According to him, the most impressive and fascinating of all the governor has done was the ongoing road projects, adding, ‘we have never experienced for the past forty years’.
The royal father also thanked the governor for the cordial relationship between him and his deputy, Dr. Pius Odubu, whom he described as their true son.
Also speaking, the deputy governor, praised the Governor for making major interventions in the development of all communities across Edo State.
"I have mentioned to you here severally, even in exco proceeding that we can’t begin to imagine what you have done for us. Before now, to access our homes and other villages in Orhionmwon, we had to go through Delta; that is the truth, but now there is a road network," Odubu said while congratulation Oshiomhole on the new title.
In his response, the comrade governor thanked the people for the honour done him, saying "Let me and your son, Dr Pius Odubu thank you for giving us the benefit of doubt when you queued to vote for us on April 14, 2007, though the vote was stolen, but subsequently by the Grace of God, the mandate was restored.
"I also want to thank you that after four years in office, we again approached you for support to be re-elected for second term and as history would have it, you gave us your support massively, such that we won in every ward in Orhionmwon Local Government Areas including Urhonigbe. So it was a matter of obligation that we justify that trust," he stressed.
